What Packaging License means

Anyone who first places filled sales packaging on the market must register with the Central Packaging Register (LUCID) before the first placing on the market and license their packaging with a dual system. Who it applies to

All retailers and manufacturers who supply packaged goods to end consumers in Germany are affected, including small businesses and dropshippers. There is no de minimis threshold.

Risks of non-compliance

Violations of the VerpackG are administrative offenses and can be sanctioned with substantial fines; in addition, marketplaces check the LUCID number and block listings without proof.
